Robert W. Wood, Jr. (Bob) was born into a family of craftsmen. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather and father, Bob started his construction company. He went a step further, however. He earned his bachelor’s degree—studying engineering and business—and also built a home inspection business, where he discovered too much “sloppy work,” too many empty promises, and inferior construction.
Combining his academic training with his years of on-the-job-training in the family business and his home inspection experiences, Bob knew he could do it better and different than most of today’s “modern” contractors. He has stuck to the best of the old world ways and complemented that commitment to quality with his knowledge of new products and processes that allow a greater opportunity for homeowner customization.
Bob serves as the general contractor for each client’s job, and arranges for each sub-contractor—choosing those best suited to the particular job from his tried-and-tested pool of superior craftsmen who meet his strict quality standards. This turn-key approach helps minimize costs and eliminates conflicts of interest: Bob will always have the best craftsman assigned to your project, not just someone on his payroll who happens to be available that week.
He has published multiple articles on construction technologies, and is a contributing author in Fundamentals of Facility Management, published by Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI). He is also a technical reviewer for a series of texts about buildings and building technologies to be published by BOMI. Bob is a frequently requested speaker on topics of project management, building and home inspections, and constructions technology.
